Only one mile from Wallett's Court County House Hotel & just over half a mile from the beach at St. Margaret’s Bay down the steep winding hill., The Mermaid's Purse is a traditional 18th Century Kentish flint cottage hidden in a quiet corner of St. Margaret's-at-Cliffe, a village set in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in White Cliffs Country. An area renowned for its spectacular scenery and pebbled coves, good for swimming, and breath-taking walking or cycling along the coastal and cliff-top paths.
The Mermaid's Purses' tucked away location belies the fact that it is just a few steps to the pubs, restaurants and shops on the narrow winding high street. Furnished in a traditional country cottage style, it has recently been fully refurbished to provide comfortable accommodation for up to 4 people. The cottage comprises of two bedrooms; one twin bedded and one double, bathroom/wc, a lounge/dining room, kitchen with a 'big' gas-fired Range, laundry room & conservatory/breakfast room.
Outside, the cottage enjoys secluded gardens and 'sun-trap' terraces (ideal for barbecues) with well established shrubs and an old-fashioned herb garden for 'chef'! With a fully-equipped kitchen you may not wish to venture out to sample the varied cuisine that is available locally. However with the selection of eateries nearby you may want to enjoy a simple scampi in a basket at The Hope Inn (the locals 'local' ), a Pizza in 'The Smuggler's Restaurant, a devilled crab at The Coastguard Pub on the beach or for a taste of Australasia a visit to the 'Bay Leaf' bistro and for the highlight of your stay a dining experience not to be missed is a visit to The Restaurant at Wallett's Court.

For history enthusiasts the area has a legacy of castles, historic monuments and interesting places to visit. Dover Castle is splendidly situated on the cliffs above the sea and a tour of the secret wartime tunnels is not to be missed. The seaside town of Deal is quaint and picturesque and nearby Sandwich has a generous helping of beautifully restored buildings such as the Elizabethan Guildhall which is full of the town's treasures.

the Championship Golf Courses of Royal St. Georges at Sandwich is
only half an hours drive and Royal Cinque Ports at Deal can be reached
in around
20 minutes.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LET The Mermaid's Purse is fully furnished and well equipped,
the property is cleaned and inspected between lettings and every effort
is made to ensure all equipment is in working order. Your assistance
in this would be appreciated by reporting any non-functioning appliance
or breakages as soon as possible. All breakages, losses or damages
will be charged for. The entry time for the property is from 4pm on the
arrival day. We ask that guests staying at The Mermaid's Purse 'check-in'
at Wallett's Court Hotel prior to arrival (open between 7am-11pm)
and we will hand over the keys a welcome pack and guest passes for
The Spa at Wallett's Court. Should this not be possible alternative
arrangements may be made. You are requested to vacate the property on or before
11am on the day of your departure, this is extremely important to
us as we require this time to allow us to prepare the property for
our new arrivals, on departure the keys should be put through the
letterbox after securing the house. We shall do all
that we can to ensure the accommodation is clean and comfortable for
your arrival and it will be appreciated if you will try to leave it
as you find it. Our policy is not to let our properties to groups of
people under the age of 25. The accommodation
is designed and equipped for family type holidays. It will not accommodate
more than the stated number of beds. The number of people occupying the property should
not exceed the maximum number of 4 . Pets and smoking in the
cottage are strictly forbidden.
Proprietors reserve
the right to enter the property during your stay for essential maintenance
if required. A non-refundable deposit equal to 20% of the total
rental is required at the time of booking to secure the reservation
and the balance must be paid no later than 8 weeks before the commencement
of your holiday. If your booking is within eight weeks of the
holiday commencement full payment will be required at time of booking.
Payment may be made using a credit/debit card by telephone, email
or fax or a cheque by post. If for any reason, you have to cancel your booking
you will forfeit a proportion of you payment. Deposit Forfeited - from time of booking up to 56 days

and will not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to visitor's
